The Near-Stellar Environment of Cool, Evolved Stars

Author
Abstract

We discuss relationships between spectral indicators of chromospheric heating, winds and dust for low and intermediate mass stars evolving up the RGB and AGB, and suggest new observations from infrared to mm wavelengths which are needed. A full discussion of these relations, which are important for theoretical studies of heating and mass-loss processes, is in preparation.
