MWF 2.00-2.50pm in Duane Physics, G131.

This is an upper division undergraduate course in Relativity and Cosmology for science majors. It aims to provide a quantitative introduction to special and general relativity, to black holes, and to modern cosmology. Knowledge of calculus is assumed. This an elective for the APS minor (and major, if approved).

Cas A SNR The Cas A Supernova Remnant. Is the central point source associated with a neutron star or a black hole?
Galactic Center The Center of our Galaxy. The central point source is associated with a black hole of about 2.6 × 106 solar masses.
Center of M31 Center of the Andromeda Galaxy, M31. The central point source is associated with a black hole of about 3 × 107 solar masses.
