Post-doc candidates are strongly encouraged to apply for the competitive and well funded ($55k/yr salary + $5k/yr support) National Research Council Research (NRC) Associateship Programs (available to US citizens). NIST applications are due in the first part of the year, typically at the end of January and successful applicant must start before the beginning of the next calendar year. The Perkins group is looking for motivated undergraduate, graduate and post-doc researchers with an interest in single molecule measurements. Previous single molecule expertise or optics experience is helpful, but not required. Post-doc applicants with a strong background in Physics, Chemistry or Biochemistry are encouraged to apply. Please contact Tom directly. Graduate students apply through Departmental programs. These include Physics, MCDB, and Physical Chemistry (Physics, Chemistry). Partial scholarships are available for through the Optical Science & Engineering Program, though you must apply through Physics, Chemistry, or Electrical Engineering and indicate on your application that you are interested in being considered for a OSEP fellowship. Perkins group members have also been supported by an NIH Training grant in Biophysics.
