Margaret Murnane was elected an Honory Member of the Royal Irish Academy in March of 2013. She was nominated for the honor by Professor Eugene Kennedy, MRIA, and Professor Luke Drury, MRIA. Murnane is a Fellow of JILA and a Distinguished Professor in the Departments of Physics and Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Colorado, Boulder.
The Royal Irish Academy was founded in 1785 for the advancement of learning and scholarship in Ireland. The Academy's modern mission is faithful to its founding charter. This all-Ireland institution promotes excellence in scholarship, recognizes achievements in learning, and undertakes its own research projects, particularly in areas relating to Ireland and its heritage.
