Event Details

Event Dates:

Friday, September 29, 2017 - 10:30am

Seminar Location:

  • Duane Physics Room G126

Speaker Name(s):

Brian Swingle

Speaker Affiliation(s):

University of Maryland
Seminar Type/Subject

Scientific Seminar Type:

  • CTQM Seminar

Event Details & Abstract:

This talk concerns the notion of quantum information scrambling and its relation to thermalization and quantum chaos. I will show how we can diagnose and calculate the rate of information scrambling and how we can measure scrambling using quantum control techniques. Finally, I will discuss several recent experiments in this direction as well as what we hope to learn more broadly by studying scrambling.
