Event Details & Abstract:

I will be leading a CTQM discussion this Friday 2/10 on fracton topological orders, 10:30am - 12:00pm in Duane G126.  These are unusual topologically ordered quantum phases of matter in three dimensions that have been discovered (originally by Haah) in exactly solvable models, and are interesting in part because they fall outside our existing paradigms for thinking about topologically ordered states.  On Friday I will try to explain some of the key properties, focusing on a few examples.  The plan is then that Rahul will continue with other aspects of this topic next week.
