Scientific Seminar Type:

  • Condensed Matter Seminar

Event Details & Abstract:

A fundamental open problem in condensed-matter physics is how the dichotomy between conventional and topological band insulators is modified in the presence of strong electron interactions. We show that in three dimensions there are eight topologically distinct phases in total. Physical properties and experimental signatures of theses phases will be discussed. I will also discuss possible realization of one of these new phases in frustrated spin-1 magnets.
